Sally's, errr I mean Mac's new glasses!

Last school year, Mac failed her eye exam at school.
Being the procrastinator that I am (and excellent mother)

I got right on that.

Since then, she has failed two more eye tests (who needs to be able to see to drive anyways?) and complained continuously about not being able to see the white board in class.

I finally broke down and took her for an eye test.

Yep, she needs glasses. I'm not sure where that gene came from but ah well.

So, after what seemed like an eternity of watching her try on different styles, now wait.I'm sure I can do a better job describing this scene.

Mac is standing in front of a large mirror.

She has a pile of glasses she is trying on.

With a serious face she carefully places a pair of glasses on her face.
With lightening speed she turns her head, smiles, and strikes a pose.
The smile disappears
She carefully removes the glasses and places them down.
With a serious face again she places another pair of glasses on her face.

*head turn*
*smile*
*pose*
*serious face*
*glasses off*
*new glasses on*
*head turn*
*smile*
*pose*
*serious face*
*glasses off*

This went on for at least 50 pairs of glasses (some of them 2 or 3 times).

I know that I have blogged before about my kids embarrassing me and you may not have thought I was serious but I'm serious!

I would alternate between watching her and watching the staff watch her. At first they looked at her with a little bit of bewilderment, then they seemed a little embarrassed themselves. After that they seemed to try and go back to whatever they were working on but did this "I'm gonna try and not look" series of peeks as Mac continued her routine.

Once they saw me "catching them" in the act of peeking and I gave them my "there's nothing I can do, I don't know where she gets this from, must be on her fathers side" eye roll, we all just sat back and watched the show.

When Mac found a pair she liked she would get excited and give off a little squeal, sometimes jump up and down a little, then turn around and ask for my opinion.

Once she narrowed it down to three (and by that time they all looked the same to me), she started doing a little bit of strutting around in the glasses. At one point she did a little dance. I asked her to "please stop, you're killin me!"

Then she takes her top three and finds the youngest, hippest, sales girl and walks over to her desk (where she is apparently trying to work). Mac sits down and says "Will you pretend to be my new best friend for the next few minutes and tell me honestly which one looks best?" (obviously her old uncool mother can't do it).

Actually, I was kinda stumped. Mac picked out this pair of red glasses and try as I might to keep an open mind, Sally just kept jumping in there.

Maybe I am old if all I can think about is Sally Jesse Raphael when I see red frames. So I was a little relieved when she asked for another opinion.

Because with Mac's personality, I do think the red suits her.

They look awesome! And from a fellow fashionista I totally approve.

I am nearly 32 and cannot pick out a frame to save my life. It feels so permanent. This is why I've had the same frames for three years. Hers look great on her, and I am sufficiently jealous, as I always am with those who pick out cute frames. Aahh. Happy Friday.

Your daughter definitely has style! I love her in those glasses.

I have been procrastinating booking the eye appointment for my 7 year old son because every time I mention it he cries.

I'm sure that my experience will be completely different from yours replete with temper tantrums and accusations that I am a bad mother who forces him to do things.

My 14 year old, very "cool" son needs glasses too and he will not even go and look at them. He needs them full time, according to the eye doc! I have glasses in almost every color, just wait until your daughter decides that the red glasses don't go with everything!! They look great on her!

Those are adorable! I wish I could pull off glasses like that. *sigh*

Awesome description of the scene, too. I'm afraid I *might* have done that to my parents a time or two.....and then to my husband......

Like everyone said, those glasses really suits her. And I have to admit that I really love the design.
