a mothers touch

This morning was parents day at Tony's school.

Last night, while we were discussing what happens on parents day, Tony said to me "please don't embarrass me Mom."

I really have no idea what he's talking about.

I mean what could be embarrassing about being a 14 year old, eighth grade boy at a brand new school and have your mom hanging with you at school for the day?

Really.

I think the administrators do this to these kids just for chuckles.

On the way into school, I asked Tony what would be the most embarrassing thing that I could do to him (just to be sure that I didn't accidentally do something that I didn't know would be mortifying to him).

His answer surprised me. He said "please don't touch me while we are in there".

Wow! That's all it would take?

Through out the day I had plenty of opportunities to cause him blushes that didn't involve touching him....but I was a good girl.

Now he lays here cuddled up next to me while I write this. He likes me to rub his back. I like to play with his wavy hair.

He doesn't seem to mind me touching him now. And I am cherishing these moments because I know they will be gone all too soon.

Very Cute! I have a 14 y/o in 8th grade also! I took him to Six Flags tonight with his newest girlfriend and I got him good. I love to get him going, so when they both climbed in the back seat for the LONG drive home, I said, "don't makeout back there!" Very funny, he turned bright red and couldn't even speak. He doesn't care though, he is use to me! Have fun!

We take what we can get when we can get it, right?

You'll be happy to know that my 19 year old son still comes to me sometimes for hugs (even though he tries to disguise it as if I'm asking for one) :)

Aww my daughter loves to cuddle up next to me and get a back rub.....it is sad to think that one day that will all change.

On a happy note, my school never had a parent's day....I need to find my old principal and send him a thank you present. I never realized how much he loved his students until this moment :)

Happy Weekend!

My 4 year old is a cuddling co-sleeper. I'm convinced that he will come home from college and crawl into bed with us.

A Mom can dream right?

8th grade is such a self-conscious time. I hope you have many more years of cuddles and back rubs to look forward to.

My oldest is a 13-yr-old 8th grader, so I know what you mean. I'm totally embarrassing to him!

We wouldn't even let our Mom take us to school for fear of being seen with her! It is a boy thing!

I see glimpes of this type of thing from my nine year old. He loves his back and head scratched too. It won't be long before he realizes the huge potential for embarrassment I have!
