I've never participated in blog meme before but I couldn't resist this one over at Tootsie Time.
She has a blog about gardening that is amazing. I'm sure I will be spending many cold, snowy, winter afternoons sipping hot coffee and looking at her pictures. She has a greenhouse too! I'm sooo jealous!
Anyhoo, Tootsie has something called "Fertilizer Fridays!" where you get to flaunt your flowers/gardens.
I'm hoping this qualifies as "flowers/ gardens".
Okay, really I'm just wanting to show off how handy The Hubby is.....and show my beloved pergola. So I promise this will be the last time that I will lament over the flowers and gardens that we left behind, (you already know how I get all sentimental about my gardens and my flowers when we move).
But seriously, I am still in mourning from leaving this pergola behind. I tried to talk the moving guys into packing it for us. He laughed....I wasn't kidding.
Two tons of flag stone and a weekend of back breaking work but it was all worth it.
We had just started building flower beds along the back patio (to the left of the pergola) and were planning on continuing them around the back side of the house. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of those.
I planted a beautiful, sweet smelling honeysuckle next to one of the poles to climb up the pergola, it was really beginning to take off (sniff...sniff...)
I also planted "stepable plants" between the flagstone called "Mazus Reptans". When it blooms it's covered with tiny purple flowers.
We only had one full summer to enjoy it.
It was a great place to relax and read....sigh....
Okay I'm done now.

Omigosh that thing is beautiful, no wonder you tried to bring it with you! Will you build one in your new yard?
OH WOW!!! it is just fantastic!!! I would have tried to bring it along too....I felt like crying the other day when I drove past my old place...I had put my heart and soul into that house and garden...it was looking really sad...like I had never been there! The neighbors told me that they miss me! lol
I am sure that you will have a fabulous yard, patio, container garden on a deck/balcony soon enough...but for now..please dazzle us with the photos of your old yard as much as you like! I find them inspiring!
Oh...and I am honored that you linked in to me...and that I am your first time!!! (oooh...did that sound creepy? hee hee) I hope to see you again/
well...better stop babbling...and get busy...it is Thanksgiving here this weekend!
Get out of town!! I'd be chained to it...just beautiful, love the stepables!!
That is gorgeous. I'd have been begging the movers to pack it up as well! I'm still drooling over the pics. I want something like that if/when we get a house. Somewhere I can cozy up and read a good book.
That is my only fear, if I move, what would happen to my gardens... I decided if we did move, I would take one of each plant. I would hate to leave my home because of that! Even when we moved 12 years ago, we had to leave a tree my Dad bought me, a Red Oak and I was sick over that... I still think about that tree...
I'm so sad for you that you had to leave that! What a beautiful place to hang out!
Now you're breaking MY heart. That was quite a haven you had set up there. Beautiful!
Love these photos!!! So sorry you had to leave that beautiful spot...
Beautiful...I definitely see why you miss it!
That is really beautiful! Looks like something else to add to the 'honey do' list :)
What a gorgeous pergola! I want one...right off the front deck. Love the flagstone plantings...very inspiring.
I left behind the best gardens when I moved, too. I still happen to live in the general vicinity and once in awhile I'll take a drive by to spy on my little babies...that aren't so little anymore. I miss my Japanese cherry tree the most...she's doing well though, with her adopted parents...except for the hideous haircut they gave her...sheeesh!
